Cape Stress Reduction & Optimal Health offers Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Training, Classes and Consultation.

Cape Stress Reduction & Optimal Health is directed by Adam Liss. He has lived on Cape Cod since 1977. As early as 1975, he was practicing some of the techniques that came to be part of the first stress reduction programs that he developed and started teaching here in 1992.

Adam began integrating Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction into his programs in 1995 and participated in the first Teacher Development Intensive offered at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center’s Stress Reduction Program in 1997. He has since completed the other two legs of the formal training offered: the Training for Healthcare Professionals and the Practicum.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is a comprehensive, carefully structured eight-week series of 2½ hour sessions designed to allow people to learn how to take better care of themselves and lead calmer and healthier lives. During the thirty plus years that the class has been offered at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Stress Reduction Program, more than 18,000 people have participated in Worcester alone. The program has since spread to more than 200 locations around the country and the world. Now it is available on Cape Cod.

Adam is also listed in Cape Cod Healthcare’s Complementary Health Services Providers Directory and on the University of Massachusetts Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society website.
